About Tanned & True

Tanned & True started as a set of notes one leatherworker kept for their own bench — what conditioner actually did to vegetable-tanned hide, which stitching angle held up after a decade of daily carry, which small tanneries were worth writing home about.

It grew into a journal because those notes turned out to be useful to more people than just us. We write for people who already own leather goods and want them to last, and for people just starting to make things by hand.

We don't sell leather care products. We write about what actually works, tested on our own gear, and we credit the makers and tanneries who do this the slow way.
